The aim of the Convention is to facilitate debate about ‘YOGA – past present and future'. This Convention offers an open platform for researchers to present their work in field of YOGA, teaching methods in the light of recent developments ,etc in all forms of YOGA.

The WYC-2011 will bring together people from a diverse range of Yoga backgrounds, scholars, and Yoga practitioners to celebrate the part that Yoga plays in our lives, and to examine ways to extend its beneficial influence to all sections of society.
“WYC-2011, Rishikesh” will be an event shaping the perception of Yoga as a practice that knows no frontiers. The Convention will provide a great opportunity for you to discuss at first hand the problems troubling humankind and the ways and means to tackle them through multi-faceted Yogic approaches.

Official Language: The official language will be English. Currency Exchange: The money system in India is based on Rupees (Rs.) and paisa (P.) (Re.1 equal to 100 paisa). Currency exchange is available at Airport, hotels and banks and many other authorized money exchange center. Visitors are urged to exchange fund for Indian Rupees at a bank where they will receive the prevailing rate of exchange. Credit cards like Visa and Master are widely accepted. Indian Standard Time (IST) IST is same throughout the country and is 4:30 h ahead of Paris, 5:30 h ahead of London (+ 5.30 h GMT), 10:30 h ahead of New York, 3:30 h behind Tokyo and 4:30 h behind Sydney. Climate and Clothing The weather in March end in Rishikesh is mild. The minimum temperature is 18 ºC and maximum is 26ºC. Cottons / light woolens are suitable for the weather. Visas & Passports: All visitors to India will need a valid passport. Those requiring visa should apply to the Indian Consulate Office or Diplomatic Missions in their own countries. Vaccination: Foreigners coming from or through yellow fever countries/zones must possess a valid vaccination certificate. If the foreigner is visiting India on a visa for more than one year. HIV test report from one of the WHO recognized institutions is required for people in the age group of 15 to 60 years. Invitation Letter: YAI will be pleased to send official invitation letters upon request. The invitation is intended to help potential attendees to obtain visas. It is not a commitment on the part of the organizers to provide any financial support. Insurance and Liability: YAI will not be responsible for medical expenses, accidents, losses or unexpected damage to property belonging to congress participants. Participants are strongly advised to arrange their own insurance for health, accidents and lost of luggage and belongings. Dress: Informal dress will be suitable for all the events. Electricity: The electricity supply in India is 220 V, 50 Hz, common plugs are with two or three round pins. The World Yoga Convention - 2011 will be held at the well-known VanPrasth Ashram in Rishikesh. VanPrasth Ashram has modern flats, rooms and cottages with nice gardens.VanPrasth Ashram's gardens are full of lovely flowers, nicely done lawns and colored fountains. The Ashram is in two parts. One part faces mountains, and while the other faces the Ganga. Both parts of the ashram are divided by a narrow road. The Ashram has 2 temples inside and has ample parking place.

Accommodation VanPrasth Ashram is situated on the bank of the Ganga, and offers excellent accommodation and a great location - with gardens, and mountains in the background At the Conference the accommodation will be provided on Single, Twin /Double or Triple sharing basis in rooms with attached bath. Hot water is provided in the morning. These rooms are provided with clean beds, blankets, bed sheets/pillows, chairs and tea table, bed side table.
Do’s • Carry back all non-degradable litter such as empty bottles, tins, plastic bags etc. These must not litter the environment or be buried. They must be disposed in municipal dustbins only. • Observe the sanctity of holy sites, temples and local cultures. • Cut noise pollution. Do not blare aloud radios, tape recorders or other electronic entertainment equipment in nature resorts, sanctuaries and wildlife parks. • In case temporary toilets are set-up near campsites, after defecation, cover with mud or sand. Make sure that the spot is at least 30 meters away from the water source. • Respect people's privacy while taking photographs. Ask for prior permission before taking a photograph Don'ts • Do not take away flora and fauna in the forms of cuttings, seeds or roots. It is illegal, especially in the Himalayas. The environment is really delicate in this region and the bio-diversity of the region has to be protected at all costs. • Do not use pollutants such as detergent, in streams or springs while washing and bathing. • Do not use wood as fuel to cook food at the campsite. • Do not leave cigarette butts or make open fires in the forests. • Do not consume aerated drinks, alcohol, drugs or any other intoxicant and throw bottles in the wild. • .Respect local traditions. • Polythene and plastics are non bio-degradable and unhealthy for the environment and must not be used and littered.
